If you’re wondering what is so great about wild yam than in this article I hope to enlighten you. Some people confuse wild yam with a sweet potato, which is actually different.
A wild yam is actually a vegetable which has a heavy duty skin which sometimes can be difficult to be removed. The vegetable can be cooked, grilled, steamed, broiled and is usually grown in North and South America. It has a long history of giving people health benefits and is also somewhat known as a woman’s herb.
This is probably because it can come in the form of a cream to help with skin care.
One of the wild yam’s benefits is its ability to relieve menstrual cramps. However, this is all in theory since I have not found any solid clinical studies to support this idea. This may be due to its anti-inflammatory properties which may help out.
Another major benefit of this vegetable is with its ability to sooth muscles and arthritis. Again this is due to its anti-inflammatory properties, which can reduce swelling and pain. Inflammation is someone’s immune system which goes to work to heal a portion of the body.
As you can guess this can be a good thing however it can also turn bad as the body destroys healthy tissue and cells in the process.
Due to its relaxing and reducing inflammation effects it can also help with urinary tract problems, irritable bowel symptoms, reducing cholesterol, blood pressure, and it can help with many other organs as well.
Pregnant woman should not use wild yam. Also if someone overdoses on this nutrient they can experience stomach pains and nausea.
A person can gain the benefits of this vegetable by using a cream that has it, eating the plant or consuming a supplement. I don’t really have any experience in the first two methods plus I’m actually lazy, which is why I usually endorse taking a supplement to get the effects of wild yam.
Supplements are sort of like a mized bag. On one side they can be incredibly helpful, easy and inexpensive. Then on the other side they can be very confusing, a waste and maybe even harmful.
I recommend checking out a FREE guide that I wrote that explains how someone can choose the best and safest supplement. To view this guide click on Supplement Guide.
