What are Good Fats to Eat?

Fats are not always so bad and sometimes there are some good ones that can actually improve fat. What is so interesting is the history of fats. For instance years ago prestigious organizations started telling people that fats where bad and if more people went on the low fat diet they would lose weight. What happened is that more people started to gain weight and had more health problems. Then some guy called Dr. Adkins came along and told everyone that fats can be good and the carbs are the real energy. People started to lose weight and improve their health.

Now of course there are some things in the Mr. Adkins diet that are debatable and it comes squarely down to saturated fats. There are a lot of health experts who think that this type of fat can increase someone’s bad cholesterol levels and increase cardiovascular problems. However the clear conclusive facts about saturated fats are still grey and not clear. So there is a chance that saturated fats cannot be harmful for people. The one fat that is clearly bad is Trans fats. The reason for this is because it’s a manmade fat and that is clear evidence as it is. Trans fats can increase bad cholesterol contributing to less blood flow. It can also weaken cells protection and integrity because it gets used in their membranes, which can be bad. Weakened cells can lead to them dying early and being altered which can cause all kinds of issues like even cancer.

This brings me to the topic on how fats can be helpful. The healthy ones are called unsaturated fats and there are two of them. They are monounsaturated fats and also polyunsaturated fats. They are both are liquid at room temperature. You will now very quickly if a fat is saturated because it will start to become solid such as the runoff when cooking a peace of beef or bacon. These unsaturated fats are in things like olive oil, nuts and canola oil. These fats have been linked to decreasing LDL cholesterol which is the bad stuff and increasing the good cholesterol called HDL. The reason HDL wears the white hat and is considered healthy is due to the fact it can sweep away clutter in someone’s blood vessels.

These healthy fats can also be used to help with nerve and neuron protection. Neurons are part of the brain and they are responsible for sending messages back and forth. This is a big reason that eating fish can prevent Alzheimer’s and memory problems. Nerves are also responsible for sending messages to the brain.  To give you an idea if you didn’t have nerves on your fingers you could be touching a fire not know about it if you were distracted and burn your fingers away. There are also many others reasons that fats are helpful like with keeping the skin looking good as well as assisting with hormones.

One way someone can get these good fats is by taking fish oil. Fish oil can be good because it gives someone all these benefits without any side effects of eating fish. These side effects could include contaminations and toxins. It sounds easy to just get some fish oil but it can actually be a challenging task with all the choices and options. I endorse getting educated about the supplement industry because it makes shopping easier and more enjoyable. One of the places to get educated is by reading a free guide that I made and you can view it by clicking on “How to Choose a Good supplement.”
